  2. ) White blood cells recognise antigens on them are foreign.
  3. ) White blood cells produce antibodies for specific antigens.
  4. ) The pathogen particles are destroyed.
  5. ) White blood cells produce memory cells to remember the antibodies for the certain pathogen.
  6. ) If the body is infected for real, antibodies are produced faster and a lot more of them. The pathogen will be destroyed before symptons are felt. This is known as immunity.

What are the advantges of vaccination?

  • A safe/ cost effective way of preventing disease.
  • Smallpox has been eradicated and polio could be next.
  • If enough people are vaccinated, those who aren’t will be protected as there is no where for the pathogen to be spread. This is known as herd immunity.
