What is the duty to report injury under Land Transport Act?

A

Where a crash involves injury or death the driver must report the incident to the nearest station or officer as soon as reasonably practicable or no later than 24Hours.

Exception: The driver is incapable of doing so because of injuries sustained in the accident

What is the duty to report damage under the Land and Transport act 1998?

A

When a crash damages an unoccupied vehicle or another property belonging to another person the driver MUST:

  • Report within 48 hours to the owner or the nearest police station within 60hours.
  • Details to leave are: Name, Address, Rego, Crash location.
