The shadow

A
  • the suppressed part of personality we don’t want to reveal
  • source of shame and anxiety, so we deny it
  • symbolised as original sin

The persona

A
  • the mask we wear to make a particular impress to others. Conceals our true nature
  • can lead to inner conflict and a repression of our own individuality

Anima and animus

A
  • the inner attitude that takes on characteristics of opposite sex. Often repressed
  • anima is the archetypal image of a woman in the unconscious of every man
  • animus is the archetypal image of a man in the unconscious of every woman
