Q

what are the differences of Aerobic respiration and Anaerobic respiration ?

A
  • Oxygen is only used in Aerobic
  • Aerobic produces CO2
  • Anaerobic releases lactic acid
  • Aerobic produces much more energy

Q

what is photosynthesis

A

photosynthesis is a chemical process used by plants to make glucose and oxygen from carbon dioxide and water using light energy . Oxygen is produced as a by product of photosynthesis. Algae subsumed within plants and some bacteria are also photosynthetic.

Q

process of photosythesis

A

The plant takes in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere through the stomata on its leaves. Water gets into the plant mainly through the roots and finds its way to the leaves, where photosynthesis occurs. Plant roots are specially designed to draw water from the ground and transport it to the plant leaves through the stem. Chlorophyll, the green colouring matter of the leaf, traps the energy from sunlight as it shines on the leaf. It is worth noting that it is chlorophyll that gives the leaf its green colour. The solar energy is used to break water down into hydrogen and oxygen. Then hydrogen is combined with carbon dioxide to make sugar, which is food for the plant. Oxygen is released as a by product through the stomata.

Q

what is stomata

A

stomata is tiny holes in epidermis ( skin ) of leaf. they control gas exchange by opening and closing and are involved in loss of water from leaves. singular is stoma.

Q

what is a deficiency

A

deficiency is a shortage of something, for example if a plant doesn’t have enough magnesium, we say it is deficient in magnesium.

17
Q

what is biotechnology

A

Biotechnology is the alteration of living organisms to develop or make products that help us.
