      • Hemiplegia
        • ex. right hemiplegia affects right side, stroke occurred on left side of brain
      • Hemianopsia
      • Aphasia common if stroke occurred on dominant side
      • Apraxia
        • loss of ability to perform purposeful, skilled acts
    • Interventions
      • Bed rest
      • fluids restricted
      • HOB 30
      • Avoid putting on paralyzed side for more than 20 minutes
  • TIA
    • warning of impending CVA
    • neurologic deficits can last 30 seconds to 24 hours
