It can be singular or plural

Fun is a noun and also adj used to describe something you enjoy doing.
Funny is adj used to describe sth that makes you laugh:
I enjoyed riding on the roller coaster - it was very fun (NOT funny)

We had to wait in a queue for 4 hours, and I was really bored. (NOT boring)
