Mandibular central Incisor Flashcards

1
Q

Common Traits to All Incisors

A

Rectangular in shape- longer than they are wide

Taper from proximal to cervical

More convex distal surface than mesial

Mesioincial angle is more square than disto incisal angle

Distal contact more cervical than mesial

Roots taper toward the apex and lingual

Roots are wider faciolingually- except maxillary central = symmetrical

Roots are longer than crown and can bend to distal

Q

Common Traits to All Incisors

A

Crowns taper from proximal contact towards lingual

Mesial and distal marginal ridges converge on cingulum

Cervical lines on Facial and Lingual curve upwards towards the apex

Proximal CEJ curve towards incisal and greater on mesial

Wedge shaped proximal outline

Facial and Lingual height of contour is in the cervical third

S shaped lingual outline- when viewed from proximal angles

Facial is less convex than lingual (view it from the incisal aspect)

Q

CHANGE UP: FL MD

A

Facial Lingual Width is Greater than the Mesial Distal Width (as compared to what was seen in the maxillary centrals and laterals) – This just doesn’t apply to the crowns, but also with the ROOTS!

Q

Bisecting Line

A

The incisal edge is LINGUAL to a bisecting line!- To remember, occlude, and notice how your bottom teeth are behind your top teeth? Thus, supports this claim.

May have more than one canal with multiple foramen

Q

Facts about mandibular centrals

A

Relatively Smooth/Flat Labial Surface!

Mamelons are usually present but diminish over time with wear!

Very symmetrical

Mesial curvature of the CEJ is greater than the distal

Proximal-incisal angles are nearly symmetrical and only slightly rounded

17
Q

What type of shape is the root?

A

A ribbon shaped root, facial-lingual is wider on the crown as well as on the root!

18
Q

What type of shape is the root?

A

A ribbon shaped root, facial-lingual is wider on the crown as well as on the root!

19
Q

More Info

A

Lingual surface is smooth and shallow- feel with back of tongue

Cingulum is small and centered

LONGITUDINAL Root depressions on both mesial and distal

Root is more narrow on lingual than facial- dont focus on that too much, just know that it has a larger width F-L > M-D

20
Q

Pulp Anatomy

A

Takes the form of an I beam

21
Q

Weird Facts to know

A

Incisal edge is straight across from mesial to distal

Lingual surface is smooth but has inconspicuous marginal ridges
