What is the Biuret test

A

add copper sulphate to an alkaline solution
if it turns purple, there is protein
if it turns blue, there is nothing

What is the emoulsion test

A

Shake a test substance with ethanol until it dissolves and then pour it into water
if there are lipids present they will precipitate out of the liquid with a milky emulsion

what is the benedicts test?

A

iodine test where you add iodine to a solution
if it turns brown/orange to dark blue/black there are sugars present
If not then it doesn’t change colour
