What is the Epithelial Cell

A

They are found on the surfaces of organisms, they also line internal structures like the trachea and lungs.

Q

What is the CILIATED Epithelial Cell

A

These form the lining of the air passages in the lungs, trachea and bronchi, Fallopian tubes. These cells have tiny little hairs called cilia that beat back and forth to create current in the fluid next to their surface. They also trap dust and pathogens.

Q

What is the Squamous Cell

A

These are very thin cells. They form the outer layer of the skin and line the tiny air pockets in the lungs, arteries and veins, and form the walls of blood capillaries .

Q

What is the Nerve Cell

A

A type of cell that receives and sends messages from the body to the brain and back to the body. The messages are sent by a weak electrical current. Also called neuron.

Q

What is a neuron

A

Neurons are information messengers. They use electrical impulses and chemical signals to transmit information between different areas of the brain, and between the brain and the rest of the nervous system.

Q

What are the Gamete cells

A

Also called ‘sex cells’. The gametes are not organised into tissues. They are reproductive cells. Female gametes are called ova or egg cells, and male gametes are called sperm. Gametes are haploid cells, and each cell carries only one copy of each chromosome.
