How does a low dose dexamethasone suppression test (LDD) work

A

Measure cortisol levels
Give dexamethasone
Exogenous corticosteroid should suppress normal release of cortisol through negative feedback
Measure cortisol level again
- suppressed = normal
- not suppressed = cushings
