15
Q

Where is the superficial perineal pouch and what does it contain?

A

Space between the perineal membrane (superiorly) and the superficial perineal fascia.

It contains erectile tissue and 3 muscles:

16
Q

What is the perineal body?

A

Is an irregular fibromuscular mass located at the junction of the urogential and anal triangle. (Next to the anus and the vagina)

17
Q

What is the two types of episiotomy

A

Midline and mediolateral

18
Q

What are the components of the fallopian tube?

A

Frimbriae- finger like projections to capture the ovam from the ovaries

Infundibulum- funnel shaped opening near the ovary (attached to frimbriae)

Ampulla- widest section of the tube. This is where fertilization occurs

Isthmus- narrow section of tube connecting to ampulla

19
Q

What is the uterus and its three parts?

A

Thick walled muscular organ where fetus is grown

Fundus- top part of uterus. Entry for fallopian tube

Body- site for implantation of blastocyst

Cervix- lower part of uterus

20
Q

What are the functions of the vagaina

A

Sexual intercourse

Childbirth

Menstruation

21
Q

Components of the vulva?

A

Mons pubis
Labia minora
Vestibule
Clitoris

22
Q

Components of male reproductive organs?

A

Testes
Epididymis
Seminal vesicles
Prostate
Penis

23
Q

What is the function and location of the testes and epididymis?

A

Found within the scrotum. Tetes is the site of sperm production and hormone synthesis and epidiymis is storage for sperm

24
Q

What is the major structures of the spermatic cord?

A

Testicular artery
Panpiniform plexus of veins
Vas deferens- ducts that transport sperm

25
Q

What are seminal vesicles?

A

Pair of glands found in the male pelvis which produce many of the stuff found in semen

26
Q

What is a prostate and its function?

A

Is the latgest acessory gland in the male repro and it secretes proteolytic enzymes

27
Q

Anatomical divisions of the penis?

A

Root- fixed mart of the penis located in the superficial perineal pouch of the pelvic floor

Body- free part of the penis

Glans- most distal part of penis contains opening of urethra

28
Q

What is vasectomy and how is it done?

A

Surgical procedures for male sterilization.

During this process the vas deferens are cut tied
