Ice and rain protection Flashcards

1
Q

What areas on the 175 are protected with Anti-Ice? How many detectors? How long does A/I stay on for?

A

Wing, Engine, Windshield, Air Data Smart Probes

detected by two detectors

Engine and Wing anti ice valves stay open for 2 minutes after icing is no longer detected

Q

What are the Windshield Wiper settings? Limitations and Logic?

A

Timer = 8 second delay between wipes

Max speed is 250 and will stop if operating on a dry window (torque sensor)

Q

Will there be a test for the windshield heat?

A

Yes, when a single AC power is established the windshield heating heating controller performs a 120 second BIT routine and heats up each windshield then removes power from both windshields.

7
Q

When will the windshield heat turn on automatically?

A

The system only operates normally if there are at least TWO AC electrical sources in Auto

Q

What about a single AC source for windshield heating?

A

Only the left windshield heating is powered when there is a single AC power source. If the left windshield heating system fails, the right windshield heating becomes available

13
Q

What needs to happen if one or both ice detectors are failed?

A

The crew must set the ice protection mode to ON to run both the engine and wing A/I

14
Q

What kind of bleed does the A/I system need?

A

Engine Bleed. APU bleed Air is not sufficient Bleed air can be used for A/I, PACKs, Water Pressurization, and Starting APU/Engine

16
Q

When will the Ice and Rain Protection Self Tests happen and how long do they last for?

A

Wing anti ice system (SAI IBIT) will self test 10 min after T/O or at 10,000ft AFE whichever occurs first The (SAI IBIT) duration is 60 seconds (maximum) the test can be finished earlier if all slat temp sensors have an increase of 10 degrees Fahrenheit

17
Q

If we lose our detectors, do we lose our anti ice system?

A

No just the detection, we just have to manually turn on the A/I

18
Q

When you land and taxi on contaminated surfaces what switch needs to be turned on?

A

Anti-Ice System - ON, will turn on both the engines, not the wings on ground

19
Q

MCDU TO Dataset OFF, ENG, and ALL

A

OFF when there is no visible moisture of ANY kind reported reported below 1700 AFE

ENG when there is visible moisture anywhere between 5 and 10 degrees reported below 1700 AFE

ALL when there is visible moisture anywhere below 5 degrees reported below 1700 AFE
