  • Inhibit SNS by blocking postganglionic nerve endings; Decreased uptake of DA and NE and therefore a total decrease in amount released into synapse
  • Irreversibie effect on NE vesicles

Conversion to alpha-methylnorepinephrine which acts as a2 agonist in vasomotor centers decreasing symp. outflow

Decreased renin release; possible decrease in HR and cardiac output; decrease peripheral resistance
