A

In a parasitic relationship the parasite benefits in terms of energy from resources obtained from the host and the host is harmed by the loss of these resources.

Parasites often have a limited metabolism and cannot survive outside of their hosts. However some parasites have intermediate secondary hosts to allow them to complete their life cycle
