6 minutes for Paraclear 1
5 minutes for Paraclear 2
4 minutes for IMS 1
3 minutes IMS 2
2 minutes for Spirit
1 minute for Water

How do you dehydrate your slides for cover-slipping?

A

Dab off as much water as possible -> shake off
10 seconds spirit (if you’ve blotted you only need to dip)
1 minute IMS1
3 minutes IMS2
3 minutes in paraclear 1
3+ minutes in paraclear 2

How do you rapid dehydrate your slide?

A

Ask for filter paper
Blot dry
Go straight to IMS 1 minute, IMS2, Paraclear 1, Paraclear 2

A

argyrophilic = Gordon and Sweets
argentaffin = Grocotts

What is a regressive and what is a progressive stain?

A

Regressive = needs differentiation /it stains everything = haematoxylin

Progressive = no need for differentiation / usually a counterstain = eosin
