still more maternal than Hampshire

Used often in terminal sire programs, particularly because they have poor sow productivity even though they are prolific.

breed is very susceptible to PSS (Porcine Stress Syndrome), but often used in
crossbreeding.
Pietrain
Several breeds fall under this category, including Belgian, British, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, and Swedish Landrace breeds. Most can
tie their origin back to stock imported from Denmark.
