Maneuvers Flashcards

1
Q

Windshear Escape Maneuver

A
  • Disconnect autopilot and Autothrottle
  • press either TO/GA switch
  • aggressively apply maximum thrust
  • Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate toward an initial pitch attitude of 15 degrees.
  • Follow flight director TO/GA guidance if available.
  • Retract speed brakes.

-Do not change flap or gear configuration until windshear is no longer a factor.

Q

Go Around Maneuver

A
  • Press either TO/GA switch and announce “Go Around, Flaps 15”
  • THRUST- ensure/verify go around thrust set
    *PITCH- Ensure/verify rotation to go-around pitch attitude
  • Follow flight director commands
  • confirm positive rate of climb on altimeter & call “GEAR UP”
  • Above 400’ RA: verify or call for appropriate roll mode and verify FMA change.
    *At acceleration height- retract flaps according to the flap retraction schedule.
    *remain in TO/GA, select LVL CHG, or select VNAV
  • “After TO Checklist”

* 400 Feet AGL= RAT
* Roll- select/verify roll mode
* Autothrottle disengage
* Tower- call tower and state intentions/ declare emergency
* Acceleration Height= FAT
* F= Flaps- Select Flaps 1 speed, retract to flaps 1 on schedule
*A= APU- start APU
* T=THRUST-
- Select LVL CHG
-Set CON Thrust

Q

CFIT- Terrain Avoidance Maneuver

A
  • Disconnect autopilot
  • Disconnect Autothrottle(s)
  • Aggressively Apply maximum thrust
  • Simultaneously roll wings level and rotate to an initial pitch attitude of 20 degrees.
  • Level the wings for maximum performance unless adjusting bank is the safest action.
    *Retract speed brakes
  • If terrain remains a threat, continue rotation up to the pitch limit indicator or stick shaker or initial buffet.
  • Do not change gear or flap configuration until terrain separation is assured.
  • When clear of the terrain, slowly decrease pitch attitude and accelerate.

Q

Upset Recovery Strategy

A
  • verbalize “UPSET RECOVER” “PUSH, ROLL, POWER, STABILIZE”
    *PUSH- reduce angle of attack by applying forward yoke with neutral roll input. If stalled, continue to apply forward yoke control inputs until stall recovery is complete and stick shaker activation ceases.
    *ROLL- Only after unloading, roll to manage the lift vector using ailerons while maintaining +0.5 G
    *POWER- assess the energy state. Add or reduce power as required. If ground contact is imminent, apply full thrust by advancing throttles to the mechanical stops.
    *STABILIZE- Adjust pitch and power to achieve stable flight. Once stabilized, adjust speed brakes, trim, and configuration as appropriate.
