What are joints

A

Places of contact between a bone and another bone, cartilage or teeth.

Some joints have no movement and some are slightly moveable and some are very moveable.

What are fibrous joints?

A

Bones bound closely by fibrous tissue.
Provide little or no movement.

What are the three types of fibrous tissues.

A

A Suture (Seam) is a joint with a thin layer of fibrous layer that binds skull bones.

A Syndesmosis (band), a fibrous joint that has a bigger space than the suture and is arranged in a sheet.

A Gomphosis (bolt) is a joint that consists of a peg and a socket such as the root of a tooth.

What are cartilaginous joints?

A

Have no synovial cavity, allowing slight or no movement.

A

Synchondrosis, a joint which cartilage is the connective tissue.

Symphysis, a joint in with the connecting material is fibrocartilage such as is found in the pubic symphysis.
