How do you give a 6 figure grid reference?

A

-find 4 figure grid reference first

-find the fraction of the distance it is along in both x and y direction

-round the fraction’s decimal to 1 d.p. and use the corresponding decimals for the x and y 6 figure grid reference

A

-each square length represents 1km long in both scales

1:25,000 uses 4cm squares
1:50,000 uses 2cm squares

Just remember that the numbers must multiply to 100,000cm

How do you take a 16-point compass reading?

A

-note the directions it is between, and take one of the main cardinal directions to be first
-add on the 8-point direction after

-take the 1st reading from the eastings, and use the easting to the west of your point
-take the 2nd reading from the northings, and use the northing to the south of your point
