Q

How to calculate average speed of a marathon runner?

A

The speed of a marathon runner does not have a constant speed for the whole run. To work out the average you must divide the total distance by the total time.

Q

What is gas pressure?

A

When you blow a balloon there are millions of particles. The gas pressure is the amount of collisions between air molecules.

Q

What happens if you change the volume of something?

A

If you squash a gas into a smaller volume, the pressure increases as there are more collisions.

Q

What happens when youchange the temperature of the object which have these air molecules?

A

When a gas cools down, molecules move slowly but if you heat it up it moves quickly.

Q

What are pressure like in liquids?

A

When you swim the deeper you are the more pressure of water molecules there are above you. The more high in the water you are the less molecules there are above you which means less pressure.

Q

What is the pressure like at the deep areas of a dam?

A

The wall of a dam is not straight because of the pressure being more at the bottom. If it is straight the pressure would break the dams.

Q

What are the pressure like on solids?

A

An earthmoving is heavy but does not sink in mud because it has a large surface area and has less preasure.

Q

What does studs do to help footballers?

A

Studs increase the pressure and makes the sole sink to increase friction and risk of slipping.
