Weather minimums required for takeoff?

A

95-1 if an aviator has logged more than 50 hours of actual weather time as PC there are no takeoff minimums

95-1 Helicopters ceiling 100 feet visibility 1/4 sm or 1200 RVR

The FOP states in no instance will a takeoff be attempted if the departure field’s observed weather is lower than minimums for the expected approach to be flown in the event an immediate landing is required at that field.

Cairns = ceiling 200 feet visibility 1/4sm or 1200 RVR

VFR Exception Rule
3 and 6 can be overridden if the descent, the approach, and the landing can be made in VFR conditions from the en route minimum altitude for IFR operations.

What weather is required for an approach to be initiated?

A

AR 95-1 says an approach may be initiated, regardless of ceiling and visibility

Our FOP AR 95-20 states: in no instance shall an approach be commenced if the observed weather at the destination airfield is lower than the minimums for the approach to be flown.
