input devices

A

Keyboard- An input device and the most basic way for the user to communicate with a computer. It enables a user to input text into a computer.

Mouse- A handheld hardware input device that controls a cursor in a GUI for pointing, moving, and selecting text, icons, files, and folders on your computer. A mouse can also be used to drag-and-drop objects.

Scanner- A device that scans documents and converts them into digital data

Graphics Tablet- A computer input device that enable a user to hand-draw images, animations, and graphics with a special pen like stylus. These tablets may be uses to capture data or handwritten signatures

Microphone- A device that translates sound vibrations in the air into the electronic signals and scribes them into a recording medium or over a loudspeaker.

Webcam- A video camera which is designed to record or stream to a computer or computer network. They are primarily used in videotelephony, livestreaming and social media and security.

Uses automated methods of verifying or recognising the identity of a living person on a physiological or behavioural characteristic. These characteristics include fingerprints, facial images, and voice recognition e.g., FaceID

Barcode Readers – An optical scanner that can readd printed barcodes, decode the data contained in the barcode and send the data to a computer. E.g., scanners on tills, scan bar codes on products.

OMR- OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) acknowledges human-created marks on a specially printed paper or journal used in experiments, surveys, and so on.

RFID- RFID tags are a type of tracking system that uses radio frequency to search, identify, track, and communicate with items and people.
