Inhale 2 puffs PO every 4-6 hours PRN
5 refills
Brand: Proair (8.5?), Ventolin (18), Proventil (6.7?)
Indication: Asthma, COPD
monitor: Afib, ECG, Vitals, Lung Exam, Electrolytes
Clinical Pearls:
-Teach inhalation techniques
-Prime inhaler before use (shake well and press button until one full spray comes out. Afterwards just need to shake and use)
-Instruct patient to report increased utilization of drug
-Want to keep with you at all times in case of asthma attack
-Remove canister + clean plastic actuator weekly
- store at room temperature away from cold, heat, and moisture
- Keep away from high heat (cannister may explode)
-May result in higher heart rate, pounding heartbeat (call doc if so)
DDI: concurrent use of MAOIs may result in increased risk of cardiovascular ADR
