Three major engine assemblies
Power section
Propeller gearbox
Torquemeter
Primary purpose of propeller gearbox
Transmit shaft power from the torquemeter to the propeller, reduce shaft rpm, provide power to the GMAD
GMAD
-located on rear of PGB, provides drive pads for:
G- AC Generator
O- oil pressure pump
O- overspeed governor
P- PCU
H- hydraulic pump
GOOPH
Torquemeter primary function
Transmit engine output to the PGB and supply torque reference to FADECs
Ice detection system is reset ______ after icing conditions are no longer detected
45 seconds
LEVEL 2 ICE
Ice detector probes have accumulated approximately 1/2 inch of ice on wings.
If remains for more than 45 seconds- accumulation rate is more than 1/2 inch per minute
Ice protection system 7 zones:
-Vert tail
-L and R horizontal tail
- L and R outboard wing
-L and R inboard wing
Ice protection operating modes
Deicing, anti-ice, test
Ice protection system enabled when pilots airspeed is greater than ___
60 KIAS
PUAD (Power unit accessory drive)
-supplies mounting flanges for:
-FPMU
-alternator stator
-starter
-power unit lube and scavenge pump
Pulling fire handle does:
- Nacelle shutoff valve is closed
- Eng oil shutoff valve is closed
- Extinguishing agent switching is available
- Fire extinguisher system directional flow valve positioned
5.firewall fuel shutoff valve is closed - Firewall hydraulic shutoff valves are closed
- The BAU commands the prop aux feather pump for 20 sec
- Data bus message is sent to FADEC to feather the prop and shutdown engine
- Shutoff valve in the engine FPMU, backup power 1/4 is utility battery; 2/3 avionics battery
The 14th stage bleed air augmenter valve opens if…..and closes when…
Opens if the average engine power settings are below 1,000 hp and closes at 1,100 hp
- regulates high pressure bleed air on a schedule as a function of altitude
