Chapter 6 Flashcards

1
Q

Yeast Genome

A
  1. Genome= 12 052 000bp, distributed on 16 chromosomes (compact genome).
  2. Genes account for 72% of the sequence
    - 8% of duplicated material remains
    - ~6000 protein-coding genes
    - 40 genes for small nuclear RNAs
    - 275 genes for tRNA
  3. 4777 protein-coding genes are of known function
  4. 1/3 of yeast proteins have identifiable homologous in the human genome.
