She was assumed to be holding a scarf which said votes for women on it that she wanted it pin on the kings horse so he could cross the finish line with votes for women on it. She had a return ticket so why would she buy one if she didn’t plan on returning?

If she tried to kill herself in prison and failed, she would obviously try to kill herself again. She also said it would be glorious to die for friends.
