Special Certificate of Airworthiness
What type of Flight Authority would an aircraft have that is being ferried or is for testing purposes?
A Flight Permit
A C of A doesn’t expire but what are the four requirements to keep the C of A valid?
- The aircraft must remain in an airworthy condition and have all required equiptment, functioning.
- Appropriate periodic inspections must be carried out and entered in the journey log
- Any ADs must be rectified, and also certified and signed by an AME.
- AC must be operated within the limitations of the POH
The Annual Airworthiness Information Report (AAIR) isn’t a necessary document to go flying. What is it?
A document that allows TC to keep track of the hours that a particular aircraft and the General Aviation fleet have both flown, respectively.
It should be submitted once a year, or you could get fined. But it does not affect the C of A.
What four things are on the Certificate of Registration?
- Aircraft registration
- Serial number
- Owner’s name and address
- Aircraft’s specific purpose (Private, commercial)
On the Certificate of Registration, what does the aircraft’s purpose tell us in regards to the inspection cycle and use of the airplane?
That the plane is eligible for hire and that the inspection cycle will be every 50 hours instead of annually.
How long is the Certificate of Registration good for?
Forever, unless there is a change of owner, address, or purpose
What is the procerdure for buying/selling an airplane in terms of the paperwork?
- Buyer completes Application for Registration (located on the back of the C of R) and submits it to TC
- Buyer also completes Interim Certificate of Registration and keeps that (valid for 90 days) until TC sends them the new C of R.
- Buyer submits the change of ownership card that is included with the new C of R
What is the only proof of owenership if you buy a plane?
The bill of sale
What are the three kinds of Insurance and which ones are required?
- Public Liability or Third Party Liability - For external damage done by the aircraft. All aircraft must have this on board.
- Passenger Liability - For injuries done to passengers. Commercial Operations must have this on board.
- Hull Insurance - Covers damage to the aircraft itself. Optional.
Whatever insurance you have must be onboard in order to be valid

On all flights except if its part of a Flight Training Unit or a Commercial Operator
