What is Clinical Governance?

A

It is the systems, processes, leadership and culture through which we as a body deliver safe and equitable health care.

It is the framework through which healthcare organisations are held accountable for continuously improving the quality of their services and safeguarding against risks to their workers and patients.

What are some risk management systems?

A

-Incident reporting (CIMS= WA wide)
-Morbidity and Mortality meetings
-Risk Register- what to manage or avoid
-Guidelines- specific steps to standardise care and increase efficiency of care provision
-Standards- set based on evidence, and then audited against
-Quality Improvement processes-
-Patient centred care- including opportunity for complaints and feedback and timely addressing of these.
