A

A

1.25 times the maximum working pressure to be expected in operational conditions
Capable of steering the ship at maximum service speed (good plan)

A

capable of putting the rudder from 35º one side to 35º the other side at maximum service speed and deepest seagoing draught

What are the autopilot features, what do they do?

A

The overall effect is to change the amount of yaw that is tolerated

Rudder Limit - Sets how far the autopilot can move the rudder
Rudder - Sets how many degrees of rudder angle, per degree of heading error
Counter Rudder - Sets how many degrees of opposite helm to be applied (i guess as the ship nears the correct heading)
Weather/Yaw control - Sets a time delay, to allow the ship to naturally recover its heading in rough weather

Difference between follow up and non follow up

A

Follow up - Wheel - Rudder Follows wheels movements, wheel over, rudder over.
Wheel midships, rudder midships
Non Follow up - Joystick - Applies a rudder angle, when joystick is released, it pops back to middle, but rudder stays over until joystick is used to correct it
