Hearing Flashcards
How high or low the sound is and is based on the frequency
Pitch
Loudness of sound is determined by blank or the height of the wave
Amplitude
What is amplitude measured in
Decibels
Outer part of the ear/part of the ear we can see. Passes sound waves through the eardrum into the middle ear
Pinna
3 tiny bones the middle ear is made up of
Hammer
Anvil
Stirrup
The sound waves go through what part of the ear
The inner ear
Snail like structure that is located in the inner ear which contains fluids and neurons that vibrate in response to the vibrations of the fluids
Cochlea
Deafness
The inability to hear
Type of deafness that occurs due to damage to the middle ear, which prevents people from hearing sounds that are not loud enough (can be helped with a hearing aid)
Conductive deafness
Type of deafness that occurs when someone can’t perceive the sounds of certain frequencies. (Can be helped with cochlear implants)
Sensorineural Deafness
