14
Q

What is N1 mode and how is it engaged?

A

Normally we use EPR. When P5 or P2 data is invalid it switches to N1 mode. Can also be engaged manually

15
Q

What is the difference between “Rated” and “Un rated” N1 mode?

A
  • Rated: FADEC controls N1 as a function of Thrust lever position, temp, altitude and preventing exceedances. You have lost P5 and P2 data and can not compute EPR
  • Un-rated: FADEC controls N1 as a function of thrust lever position only. Thrust lever detents do not provide exceedance protection. You have lost temperature and can not compute mach nr
For both modes A Floor and ATHR is lost

16
Q

What functions are lost in “Rated” and “Un-rated” N1 mode?

A

Auto thrust and Alpha Floor protections are lost in both modes

17
Q

How is a Dry Crank carried out of the engines?

A

ENG MODE selector to CRANK and the ENG MAN START pb to ON. ENG MASTER has to be off

18
Q

What indicates max EPR and EGT on the engine gauges?

A

An amber tick mark
