What channels and videos should I study for competence?
The “smallish” channels, not the big ones. I need to identify what is it that they did well that got them views: content, quality, style, music, thumbnail
Apart giving the viewer what they want, what should we do?
Give youtube what it wants in term of the algorithm, because no matter if your content is good, if youtube doesn’t promote it it won’t get views.

Click Through Rate. Out of 100 impressions, how many people clicked on your video.

How do we get a good CTR?
With good thumbnails and title. The first things the viewer sees. So it makes a lot of sense to put some time in the thumbnail.
What is watchtime?
How long you retain people in your videos.
How does youtube compute how many ads they can show in your video?
CTR * watchtime. E.g. 50% CTR and 50% watchtime on a video of 10 minutes, means for every 100 impressions they have 250 minutes where they potentially show ads.
What are some quick tips to keep your viewers engaged?
Keep punching, keep cutting the image
Why should you put a lot of content when you start your channel?
So youtube can understand who to share your videos to faster
What’s the problem with videos shorter than 8 minutes?
Youtube can’t put ads in the middle of them, maybe only one in the beginning and one at the end
What are the videos subject with higher RPM (reveneu per mille)?
The ones talking about money, finances, bitcoin, etc.
What’s CPM?
Coste per mille. How much youtube gains for 1000 ads shown. You usually get half of that.
What’s the advantage of english speaking audience?
They can pay higher so they are worth more
What’s Fair Use Policy?
For using content that’s already out there, like parts of movies.
