  • The attached watering day’s signage shall be completed and posted for the public to view from the Fire Station front office window.

Members shall not use a water hose to wash any paved surfaces including, but not limited to, sidewalks, walkways, aprons, driveways, parking areas, side yards, and similar areas, except to alleviate immediate safety or sanitation hazards

Members shall not use water to clean,fill,or maintain level sin decorative fountains, ponds, lakes, or similar structures used for aesthetic purposes unless such water is part of a
recalculating system.

Washing of personal vehicles on Fire Department property is strictly prohibited.

Members shall only wash Fire Department apparatus or vehicles with a hose that has self-closing or an auto shut-off nozzle, which prevents the continuous flow of water. Washing of Fire Department apparatus shall be at approved locations with clarifiers as outlined in the
facilities Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).

Fire Department members shall not water or irrigate lawn, landscape, or other vegetated areas between the hours of 0900 and 1600 hours.

Non-Watering Days: No landscape irrigation shall be permitted on any day other than Monday, Wednesday, or Friday for odd-numbered street addresses, and Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday for even-numbered street addresses.

Members shall use discretion in washing dirty hose. Contaminated hose should be washed at the incident scene or at fire stations with clarifiers per SWPPP.

10.Whenever practical, hose testing shall be accomplished at parks, lakes, and during training exercises. Consideration shall be given to hose testing at the conclusion of emergency operations at incidents.

Non-conserving nozzles (spray head sprinklers and bubblers)-no more than ___ minutes per watering day per station for a total of 24 minutes per week.

Department of Recreation and Parks has a number of lakes located throughout the City.

  • The concerned Station Commander shall contact the park maintenance supervisor responsible for the lake at least 24-hours prior to the scheduled training exercise.
  • The training exercises shall consist of drafting operations from the lake and flowing water back into the lake through hand lines or firefighting appliances.
