A

The process of creating a complementary RNA copy of a sequence of DNA

Catalysed by the enzyme DNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RNA Pol, RNAP)

Adds ribonucleotides to the 3’ of growing chain
Phosphodiester bond
Uses ribonucleotide triphosphates (NTPs: ATP, UTP, GTP and CTP) as substrate
