A
  • Place serve restriction on the amount and type of food they consume however they display purging behaviour and binge eating
  • Binge eating involves eating large amounts of food and purging behaviour involves self inducted vomiting or misusing laxatives

Symptoms of Anorexia

A

A: Restriction of energy intake leading to significantly low body weight in context of age, sex and developmental trajectory. Significantly low body weight is defined as weight that is less than minimally normal
B: Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, therefore persistent behaviour that interferes with weight gain
C: Disturbance in the way one’s body weight or shape is experienced and shape evaluation in which persistent lack of recognition for the seriousness of low body weight
