states of consciousness pt 4 Flashcards
psychological phenomenon in which we fail to notice changes in our environment.
change blindness
our awareness of ourselves and our environment; describes our awareness of internal and external stimuli. Awareness of internal stimuli includes feeling pain, hunger, thirst, sleepiness, and being aware of our thoughts and emotions. Awareness of external stimuli includes experiences such as seeing the light from the sun, feeling the warmth of a room, and hearing the voice of a friend.

the principle that information is simultaneously processed on separate conscious and non-conscious tracks.
dual processing
the focusing of conscious awareness on a particular stimulus or group of stimuli.
