A
  • person lying on front
  • ask for permission to put hand on sacrum
  • knee bent 90 degrees with ankle twisted medially/laterally
  • straighten arm and put hand on lateral side/thumb on medial side of ankle/lower leg
  • push against leg and have patient actively resist with hamstrings
  • SLOWLY ramp up and down, ideally shouldn’t look like you’re moving it

A
  • the “rainbow” test hehe
  • manhandle the upper leg, grab it, bring it to flexion of hip while applying pressure so that lower leg is compressed
  • shift weight from one foot to another to create “rainbow”

  • patient lying on back, foot in bed and knee bent
  • sit on foot of patient
  • hand in front of knee, either thumbs in the middle or use palms of hand - trying to push tibia backward relative to femur in an explosive movement

POSITIVE = translates more than 6mm or has soft/mushy end feel, should feel tight resistance

  • can do either with leg hanging down or laying down with less than 90 degrees flexion
  • upper hand on thigh
  • bottom hand close to knee
  • pull thigh in the opposite direction that it naturally wants to rotate to prevent hip rotation
  • pulls bottom leg out to side

  • same as valgus but internally rotate leg
