-decreases cardiac output (bradycardia)
-decrease peripheral vascular resistance

HTN (3rd or 4th step)

A
skin issues effecting patch use

clonidine adverse effects
A
-dry mouth, usually resolves in 2-4 weeks
-dizziness
-CNS depression: sedation (no alcohol

clonidine teaching
A
-must withdrawal slowly
-avoid alcohol use
-change patch every 7 days
-if patch falls off, replace it
