Q

Why was Brown vs Topeka important

A

Limited immediate impact. Schools in cities and towns outside the deep south started to integrate . progress was slow and did not always benefit AA publics or teachers. Black pupils found integration hard and they and their family faced anger and bad feeling, education suffered. AA teacher lost their jobs many black schools that provided a good education were closed. Deep south saw an extreme back clash

Great victory for NAACP brought increased awareness of AA civil rights groups it improved legal precedent led to many more legal cases and campaigns for desegrigation. USA legal system able to support AA gave civil rights a new hope
