Density and pressure Flashcards

1
Q

What is density?

A

The mass per unit volume of a material

Objects made from low density materials will have a low mass
Objects made from high density materials will have a high mass

Q

What is the equation for densiity?

A

Density= Mass/Volume

Mass is measured in Kg
Volume measured in m^3
Density Kg/m^3

Q

Think of the partciles

Which is more dense a solid or a gas?

A

Solid

Gases are less dense because there partciles are spread out

Q

Can the units for density change?

A

Yes it depends on what the units for mass and volume are

It depends on what the units for mass and volume are

If the mass is measured in g and volume in cm3, then the density will be in g/cm3
If the mass is measured in kg and volume in m3, then the density will be in kg/m3

Q

How to calculate differnt volumes in a cube, cylinder and sphyere?

A

Cube:d^3
Cylinder:(pie)r^2 x l
Sphyere:4/3(pie)r^3

The volume is not always given of an object so needs to be calculated
