Oxidation of C involves,,,

A

loss of Hydride or gain of bonds to O with ∆G saved in NADH, FADH2 and GTP.

Q

net rxn TCA

A

OA formed in step 8 is used in step 1:
3 NAD+ + FAD + GDP + Pi + Acetyl-CoA + 2H2O —-> 3NADH + FADH2 + GTP + CoA + 3H+

Q

What is the key idea/overall chem strat???

A

Acetyl-Coa oxidation in TCA will happen as it does chemically because need carbanion TS stabilized via a/b-keto acids.

Come back to this idea as you study.
