Q

How do we benefit when we treasure Jehovah’s commandments? (Proverbs 2:1, 10-12)

A

If your parents teach you to love Jehovah and follow his standards, they are giving you a precious gift. You can show that you appreciate it by listening to them and doing what they say. This will make them happy and also Jehovah happy. He will bless you and be your friend.

Q

Whose advice did Jehoash start listening to, and with what results? (2 Chronicles 24:17, 18)

A

After Jehoiada died, Jehoash stopped listening to Jehovah and started listening to bad associates, so-called friends, princes of Judah, who did not love Jehovah. He even killed his cousin Zechariah, who tried to correct him. Jehoash became an apostate and a murderer. His own servants killed him.

Q

Whom should we choose as friends? (See also picture.)

A

The lesson we can learn from Jehoash is that we need to choose good friends who love Jehovah and want to please him. They don’t have to be the same age as us. Jehoash was much younger than Jehoiada.

We should ask ourselves: ‘Do they help me to strengthen my faith in Jehovah? Are they encouraging me to live by God’s standards? Do they talk about Jehovah and his valuable truths? Do they show respect for God’s standards? Do they just tell me what I might want to hear, or do they have the courage to correct me if I stray?’

Q

If we use social media, what should we take into consideration?

A

Some people use it to show off what they have or what they do.

Ask yourself: Why am I posting this? Is it to help others or to make myself look good? Am I letting the people who use social media influence me in a bad way?

Q

Why did Josiah make a serious mistake, and what is the lesson for us?

A

He trusted in himself instead of asking Jehovah for guidance. He decided to fight against the king of Egypt, who claimed to have a message from God, without consulting Jehovah or his prophets. The lesson for us is that we must keep searching for Jehovah and asking for his direction in all our decisions. We should not rely on our own understanding or wisdom, but on God’s Word and the advice of mature Christians.

17
Q

What can we conclude from the accounts of the three kings of Judah?

A

The main point is that we can learn from the good and bad decisions of the three kings of Judah. We can imitate their good choices and avoid their mistakes. Then we can please Jehovah and have a good outcome in life.

18
Q

What Scriptural examples show that your life can turn out well? (See also picture.)

A

David at a young age chose God’s side and later became a loyal king. Granted, he on occasion made mistakes, but overall God approved of him.

Mark, and Timothy are also mentioned as examples. We can study their lives and be encouraged by their faithful service.

19
Q

How can our life turn out?

A

Our trusting in Jehovah and not in our own understanding will lead to His directing our steps. This will result in a happy and rewarding life.
