Q

Role model + how it effected Victor

A

His only role model growing up was his father who was a deeply religious man who lived his life in devotion to the Bible. This contributes to Victor’s insanity as he grows up because right from the beginning of his life, he has been told that he can do no wrongs and that he must do everything in his favour to avoid sin.

Q

Fathers quotes

A

“Don’t you ever tell lies”and “don’t you dishonour the family name” are quotes that are said by Victor’s father which emphasise the pressure put on young Victor to live a respectable life and withhold a good reputation.

This helps successfully foreshadow Victor killing Anna as it makes readers aware that Victor fears sin and that he believes that he must free Anna of her adultery sin through killing her as that is the only way to do so.
