Q

3 causes of the civil war?
( be able to go into depth)

A

social causes = Uncle toms cabin

political cause = Missouri Compromise (1820) → Missouri (Slave state) vs. Maine( free state) for equal sections being happy and balanced. Debating if should be a slave or nonslave state has lots of sectionalism. Drew an imaginary line across Louisiana Territory states above = free, below = slave. Great cause → tensions of N v S, big division of the country

economical- transition of agricultural mercantilism society into capitalist and industrial society. Had many new inventions and ways of transportation and production. Great indirect cause bc mass production is important, especially cotton gin and trading → South plantations relied more on slaves and their labor capabilities to supply resources faster for the faster-working cotton gins.
