What is a pure substance?
a substance that only contains one type of element or one type of compound
How do you test for a purity of a substance?
By measuring its melting or boiling point and comparing it with the melting or boiling point of the pure substance
What changes does an impure substance have?
Think about melting and boiling point
- Lowers the melting point and increases the melting range
- Increases the boiling point
What is a formulation?
A mixture of compounds in measured quantities that has been designed as a useful product

Chemists make sure it delivers the drug to the correct part of the body at the right concentrations
