Flight Instruments & Avionics Flashcards
What approaches are approved using the ISI for navigation?
ILS or localizer only
What type of approaches cannot be flown on the ISI?
Back Course Approaches are prohibited. ILS and localizer only. (the ISI is not capable of performing NDB, VOR or FMS approaches as well.)
From where does the ISI get its air data and attitude information?
From a dedicated ADC (airspeed and altitude) and digital Gyro instruments (attitude).
How long is the ISI powered after generator power is lost?
3 1/2 hours
AHRS takes how long to initialize on the ground?
40 seconds in MAG mode and 4.5 minutes in HTG mode.
In the event of a left MFD failure, where does the EICAS auto transfer to?
The number 3 AFD
What are the indications of a single AHRS/IRS failure and can the data be retrieved?
A red boxed attitude flag (ATT) and/or a red Boxed heading flag (HDG). The data can be reverted using a reversion panel “ATT/HDG” Switch pick the good side”.
What are the indications of a single ADC failure and can the data be retrieved?
Red flags will appear for invalid airspeed [IAS], altitude [ALT] or vertical speed [VS]; the data can be retrieved using the reversion panel. Select the good side.
In the event of left PFD was to fail, can the information be reverted or compressed and if so, how do you do it?
Yes, by using the reversion panel and selecting left display to MDF REV.
You are taxing a Challenger 300 for takeoff and you get an amber HDG flag and EFIS Miscompare. Can you depart?
Possibly refer to the QRH volume one supplemental data tab S-61–14 checklist guidance
What equipment is required for RVSM airspace?
1 altitude encoding transponder, 2 ADCs, 1 altitude alerter and 1 auto pilot
When flying in RNP airspace, the position error should be less than the RNP value what percentage of the time?
95%
How can we tune the radios?
Either CDU or either MFD via the DCP
How do we accurately read the standby compass?
Turn off the windshield window heat
Where are the maintenance interphone panels located?
Left hand side of the nose, compartment area and in the Aft Equipment Bay
