The baby’s sex
If a baby is a boy or a girl (with birth)
Intersex
When it is not immediately obvious from the external characteristics whether the baby is a boy or girl.
Sexual characteristics
The anatomical characteristics that define the sex.
Primary sexual characteristics
Sexual characteristics that are already present at birth.
○ Boy -> Penis and scrotum
○ Girl -> vagina
Secondary sexual characteristics:
Characteristics that appear in puberty.

- Breast have grown 8/10,5/13
- Hips become broadar.
- Growth spurt: 10/10/5/14,5
- Hair under their arms and around the sexual organs: 8/11,8/14
Secondary sexual chracteristics, boy
Muscular build.
Beard and chest hair started to grow.
Voice becomes lower.
Growth spurt: 10,5/12,5/16
Hair under their arms and around the sexual organs: 10/12/15
Reproductive organs start developing: penis: 11/13/14,5 testes: 10/12/13,5
Emotional changes
A process driven by physical changes and heavily influenced by context and environment.
* Emotional changes progresses on average earlier with girls.
* It can affect your thought, feelings, independence and social life.
* Sexuality and love is going to be a more important role in your live.
Puberty
The time in life when a boy or girl becomes sexually mature.
Start puberty on average around eleven.
Experience physical, mental and behavioural changes.
