To what extent was there opposition btwn 1933-1939?
A
Little opposition within and outside of Germany
Any opposition was ineffective or quickly countered by the Gestapo

Why was foreign opposition rare?
A
- other countries were occupied with the Great Depression
- fear of Communism - Germany’s next to Russia
- Hitler was generally liked and respected across Europe

What was the most common form of opposition in this time period?
A
Complaints and minor defiance
- talking badly about the Gestapo or Nazis resulted in disappearances and businesses being taken away

Why was Propaganda difficult for Goebbels to utilise in 1933?
A
- there were no national newspapers, local newspapers were often Jewish or of other political parties
- radio was mainly local
- political films weren’t often watched as Germans were used to entertainment
- purging existing culture of Nationalist Germans whilst keeping the audience = very tough

How did Goebbels utilise propaganda in the youth?
A
- school curriculums - lessons like History and Pe were centred around Hitler’s greatness and preparation for army
- youth groups and movements
- Hitler Youth became compulsory, other youth groups were banned in 1936
- Napola and AH Schools - directly run by Nazis
