Experimental method Flashcards
alternative hypothesis
a clear, precise, testable statement that predicts the relationship between the variables to be investigated
directional hypothesis
a prediction where the researcher states the direction of the difference or relationship between variables
non-directional hypothesis
a prediction where the researcher doesn’t state the direction of the difference between variables
null hypothesis
a testable statement that predicts there will not be a relationship between the variables to be investigated
independent variable
what is manipulated or changed by the researcher
dependent variable
the effect of the change of the IV (what is being measured)
what is operationalising
defining variables so that they can be measured
