What is a gene?
A sequence of bases in the DNA that codes for a protein results in a characteristic
What is an allele?
A version of a gene
What is a genotype?
All the allels that an organism has
What is a phenotype?
the characteristics of an organism has
What is the definition of dominant?
When only one copy is expressed
What is co-dominance
Both expressed neither recessive
What’s the definition of recessive?
Need two copies to be expressed
What is a locus?
Where a gene occupies in a fixed position
What’s the definition of homozygote?
Two copies of the same allele
What’s the definition of a heterozygote?
Two. Different copies of the same allele.
What’s a carrier?
A person who carries an allele, but it’s not expressed, however, it can still be passed to offspring
